Industry Experience:
I began my journey in the film industry in South Africa in 1982. Over the decades, I have gained extensive experience and have seen the industry evolve dramatically. This long tenure has provided me with a deep understanding of the technical and artistic aspects of filmmaking.
Gaffering Experience:
In 2009, I transitioned into the role of a gaffer, specializing in the art of lighting. This position has allowed me to combine my technical skills with my creative vision, ensuring that each project I work on benefits from optimal lighting design.

Favourite Aspect of the Job:
My favorite part of working in lighting is the creative aspect. We are fortunate to paint with light, making each day unique. I love collaborating with the DOP to bring the picture to life and creating stunning images. It’s a team effort involving close collaboration with the production team.
Future Aspirations:
I enjoy seeing things done differently and believe in trying new approaches. Natural lighting is wonderful, and I strive to improve our craft continually.
Looking ahead, I am excited about exploring new techniques and approaches in lighting. I believe in the importance of innovation and continuously improving our craft. Natural lighting is a particular interest of mine, and I aim to master its use to enhance the realism and beauty of our work.
Qualifications:
Finished school in South Africa Grade 12.
